Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 21 May 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply to donations made to Deen Trust International (“DTI”, “we”, “us”, “our”) through donate.deentrust.org (the “Donate App”) and to pledges captured at our fundraising events.
Deen Trust International is a charity registered in England & Wales under charity number 1190475, and a private company limited by guarantee registered in England & Wales under company number 12506348. Our registered office is at 73 Wynndale Drive, Nottingham NG5 1HD, United Kingdom. Our correspondence address is 209 Berridge Road, Forest Fields, Nottingham NG7 6HR, United Kingdom.
We are registered with the Fundraising Regulator, the independent regulator of charitable fundraising in the UK, and we follow its Code of Fundraising Practice. We are also registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) under registration number ZC148239.
By making a donation or submitting a pledge, you confirm that you have read and accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not proceed with your donation.
2. How donations work
A donation is a voluntary gift of money to DTI. Once you confirm your donation and your payment is processed successfully, your donation is deemed to have been made and is applied to the cause you selected (a fund, sub-fund or campaign).
Your card details are processed by Stripe Payments UK Ltd, our payment service provider. We do not store your full card number.
2.1 Currency
You may donate in the currencies offered on the Donate App. Where you donate in a currency other than pounds sterling, Stripe and your card issuer determine the conversion rate. Charges may apply by your card issuer for non-sterling transactions; these are outside our control.
2.2 Operations contribution
You may optionally add a contribution towards our operating costs at the point of donation. This is fully voluntary; if you choose not to add one, 100% of your gift is applied to your selected cause (subject only to unavoidable third-party payment fees).
3. Restricted and unrestricted funds
Donations to a named fund or campaign are treated as restricted funds and will be applied to that purpose. Donations to our general or unrestricted fund may be applied to any of our charitable purposes at the trustees’ discretion.
In the unlikely event that a restricted purpose can no longer be carried out (for example, an appeal is over-subscribed, or a project is closed), the trustees may apply your donation to a similar charitable purpose in line with Charity Commission guidance.
4. Recurring (monthly) donations
If you set up a monthly donation, your card will be charged automatically on or around the same day each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Cancellation takes effect from the next billing cycle; donations already processed are not refunded by default (see Section 5).
5. Refunds
Donations are voluntary gifts and are generally non-refundable. We will, however, consider refund requests in the following circumstances:
- You donated in error (for example, an obvious typo in the amount, or you intended to donate to a different cause).
- You did not authorise the payment (suspected fraud on your card).
- The donation was made by someone who lacked capacity to make it.
- A duplicate transaction occurred due to a technical issue.
Requests should be made within 30 days of the donation by emailing [email protected] with the date, amount and (if known) the receipt reference. Refunds are made to the original payment method.
Where a refund is granted, any associated Gift Aid claim must also be reversed; we will handle this with HMRC.
6. Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, you can boost your donation by 25% at no extra cost by completing a Gift Aid declaration on the Donate App. By making a Gift Aid declaration you confirm that:
- You are a UK taxpayer.
- You will pay an amount of UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the relevant tax year that is at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs you donate to will reclaim on your gifts.
- You understand that other taxes (such as VAT and Council Tax) do not qualify, and you are responsible for paying any difference.
- The information you have given (name and home address) is accurate.
You must let us know if your circumstances change (you stop paying enough tax, change your name or home address, or want to cancel the declaration). You can do so by emailing [email protected].
7. Pledges
Pledges captured at our fundraising events are moral commitments, not legally binding contracts. We will contact you to help you fulfil your pledge, but you are free to vary or withdraw it at any time before payment by contacting us at [email protected].
8. Receipts
We will send a receipt by email (and, if you provided a mobile number and opted in, a confirmation by SMS) once your donation is processed. Please retain this for your records. Anonymous donations still receive a private receipt; only public visibility is suppressed.
9. Anonymous donations
If you select “Make this donation anonymous”, your name will not appear on any public donor wall, ticker or similar acknowledgement. We retain your name internally for accounting, Gift Aid (if claimed) and donor-care purposes; it is simply not displayed publicly.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Donate App to:
- Make donations using a payment method you are not authorised to use.
- Submit false, misleading or fraudulent information (including a Gift Aid declaration you are not entitled to make).
- Interfere with the operation of the Donate App or attempt to gain unauthorised access to it or any related system.
- Use the Donate App to launder funds or finance unlawful activity.
We may decline, reverse or report any donation we reasonably believe to be in breach of these terms or applicable law.
11. Availability of the Donate App
We aim to keep the Donate App available at all times but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend or modify the service for maintenance, security or operational reasons.
12. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
Subject to the above, our total liability to you in connection with the Donate App and any single donation is limited to the amount of that donation. We are not liable for losses caused by your card issuer, by Stripe, or by your internet connection.
13. Privacy
Your personal data is processed in line with our Privacy Policy. By making a donation you confirm that you have read it.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your donation is the one published on this page on the date you make it. Material changes will be notified at the top of the Donate App.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
